Allied Digital Services Ltd has announced that it has been awarded the Pune Safe City Project, valued at over ₹430 crore, as of October 8, 2024. This significant initiative, developed in collaboration with the Pune Police and the Government of Maharashtra, aims to bolster the city's security framework through the deployment of advanced technology.
The six-year contract involves a comprehensive approach to enhancing Pune's security infrastructure. Allied Digital will design, integrate, implement, and customize a range of solutions, which include the installation of more than 4,000 artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled cameras at over 1,400 strategic locations throughout the city. This upgrade will notably improve Pune’s surveillance capabilities.
The project is divided into two tracks. Track 1 focuses on the operations and maintenance of the existing cameras for six years. Track 2 will entail the implementation of new infrastructure within a 12-month period, followed by an additional five years dedicated to operations and maintenance.
Key features of the Pune Safe City Project include advanced AI-enabled video analytics, an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system, a vehicle over-speed detection system (VDS), and a facial recognition system (FRS). The project will also utilize drones and mobile surveillance vans to ensure comprehensive security monitoring across the city.
To support these enhancements, the command and control center at the Commissioner of Police office, along with the associated data center, will be upgraded to increase capacity and install cutting-edge software. This upgrade will facilitate improved efficiency and enable 24/7 real-time monitoring. Additional viewing facilities will also be established at various police stations and key government offices.
Nitin D. Shah, the Chairman and Managing Director of Allied Digital, expressed pride in the company’s history of delivering exceptional performance in Pune. He highlighted a remarkable 98-99% uptime for external cameras over the past 36 quarters, emphasizing the company’s commitment to excellence and setting a high standard for similar government projects.
Shah stated, “With this project, we will deploy state-of-the-art, mission-critical AI-enabled security infrastructure systems to enhance the safety and security of Pune. We are proud to continue our partnership with the Government of Maharashtra and the Pune Police, driving innovation and strengthening our leadership in the safe city ecosystem.”
