OnePlus is gearing up to launch a significant software update, possibly OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15. The teaser was shared via OnePlus India’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, where a cryptic post hinted at the upcoming release. While the details are limited, speculation is rising that this could mark the beginning of the Android 15 rollout for eligible OnePlus devices.
Google has already begun rolling out Android 15 for its Pixel series, and now OnePlus appears ready to follow suit with its own version. The OnePlus-specific version of Android, known as OxygenOS, has been in beta testing for some time, and it seems that the final release is imminent. The teased code, “00515,” has led many to believe it refers to "OOS 15," meaning OxygenOS 15 is on its way.
Several OnePlus devices are expected to be eligible for the Android 15 update. Among them are flagship models like the OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 11, and OnePlus 12, as well as devices from the Nord series.
Here’s a list of the OnePlus smartphones that are likely to receive the OxygenOS 15 update:
Although the official release date for OxygenOS 15 has not been confirmed, it’s likely that OnePlus will align with Android 15's rollout schedule. This means we could see the update starting as early as the first quarter of 2025.
In terms of features, Android 15 brings several improvements, such as better multitasking for foldable devices, enhanced security, and simplified login processes with Passkeys. OxygenOS 15 is expected to integrate many of these features while retaining OnePlus’ signature customizations and user interface tweaks. The update could also bring enhanced performance for OnePlus devices, optimizing them for the latest apps and games.
The OnePlus Pad series, which includes the OnePlus Pad Go and OnePlus Pad 2, has not been confirmed for the Android 15-based OxygenOS update, but more information is expected soon. The foldable OnePlus Open, which was recently launched, is also a likely candidate for the update, given its cutting-edge hardware and focus on multitasking.
Other smartphone manufacturers, such as iQOO and Vivo, have also announced their plans for Android 15. iQOO has already started the rollout of its Funtouch OS 15 for select devices, while Vivo plans to introduce Android 15 to its X series. The trend across these companies points to a global Android 15 rollout by mid-2025, with more eligible devices joining over time.
