Google has started rolling out Android 15 to its Pixel smartphones, bringing a host of new features designed to improve security, multitasking, and overall user experience. While Android 15 doesn’t introduce a drastically different interface compared to its predecessor, Android 14, it focuses on enhancing security and usability, powered by AI.
Eligible Pixel models, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and many others, will now benefit from these updates. For users prioritizing security, one of the most notable additions is the Theft Detection Lock. This AI-powered feature automatically locks your phone if it senses an attempted theft, such as someone trying to run away with your device. This extra layer of protection ensures your data remains secure even in potentially dangerous situations.
Remote locking options have also been made more accessible, allowing users to safeguard their devices in case of theft or loss. Android 15 also introduces additional security layers by requiring authentication for settings typically targeted by thieves, making it harder for stolen devices to be reset.
Another significant improvement is the introduction of the "Private Space" feature. This allows users to create a secure area on their devices for sensitive apps and data. With Private Space locked, applications remain hidden from the app list, recent apps view, and notifications, making it ideal for keeping personal or financial information secure.

For users of foldable devices like the Pixel Fold, Android 15 brings enhanced multitasking capabilities. The new taskbar design allows easier access to frequently used apps, and features like app pairing let users open multiple apps simultaneously, making multitasking more efficient and intuitive. This is a welcome addition for users who rely on their devices for productivity, whether for work or personal use.
In terms of photography, Android 15 brings significant improvements in low-light environments. Pixel devices, already known for their excellent cameras, will now perform even better in challenging lighting conditions, allowing users to capture clear, detailed images regardless of the time of day.
Another key update is satellite connectivity for carrier messaging apps, improving communication in areas where network coverage may be limited. Additionally, Android 15 simplifies login processes by introducing Passkeys for authentication, allowing users to log into apps and websites more securely without relying on traditional passwords.
