The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has officially released its manifesto for the Maharashtra Assembly elections slated for November 20, 2024. The manifesto, titled 'Sankalp Patra,' represents the party's commitment to Maharashtra’s progress, highlighting aspirations and future developmental goals for the state's diverse population. According to Shah, this manifesto seeks to address the core needs of the people, covering sectors like education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare. The BJP's stance reinforces its belief in equality and regional advancement, resonating with its national agenda.
During the announcement, Shah sharply criticized the opposition, especially the Congress party, over issues related to reservation policies. He accused Congress of engaging in vote-bank politics by advocating religious-based reservations. According to Shah, this approach neglects the interests of the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in favor of minorities. Referring to the Congress’s association with the Ulema Council's demands, Shah stated that such a move conflicts with constitutional principles, as India’s constitution prohibits reservations based solely on religion.
Shah also took a direct aim at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT), accusing him of aligning with Congress despite the party’s controversial stances on figures like Balasaheb Thackeray and Veer Savarkar. Shah questioned Thackeray's loyalty to the ideals upheld by Balasaheb Thackeray, suggesting that this alliance contradicts the Shiv Sena’s original ideological base. He further urged Thackeray to encourage Congress leaders, such as Rahul Gandhi, to publicly express respect for revered nationalist icons like Savarkar.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai BJP Chief Ashish Shelar, and other key leaders, including Union Minister Piyush Goyal, were present at the manifesto release. Their attendance highlighted the BJP’s unified front and their collective vision for Maharashtra’s governance. BJP’s manifesto touches on economic development, the upliftment of rural communities, and strengthening state infrastructure to foster investment and employment.
The BJP’s campaign, however, does not rest solely on the release of the manifesto. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also joined the campaign efforts, marking his presence in a series of public rallies across the state. Starting on November 8, Modi's campaign will encompass nine rallies over one week. He is expected to cover several regions, beginning with a meeting in Dhule, followed by events in Nashik and other key districts, rallying support for the BJP’s vision in Maharashtra.
With elections for Maharashtra's 288-seat legislative assembly fast approaching, both the BJP and Congress are striving to strengthen their appeal among voters. The BJP's manifesto emphasizes a comprehensive approach to the state's progress, addressing both urban and rural development, economic empowerment, and public welfare initiatives. Shah assured voters that this Sankalp Patra is dedicated to achieving a prosperous future for Maharashtra, aiming to create a balanced environment that encourages growth and stability.
The manifesto release marks a significant step in the BJP’s electoral journey for the Maharashtra assembly, positioning it as a robust contender for leadership in the state. As the campaign intensifies, Maharashtra voters are presented with two distinct pathways – one laid out by the BJP’s vision for an inclusive and progressive future and another shaped by the longstanding policies of Congress. With public rallies, strong party support, and leadership-driven initiatives, the BJP hopes to secure the trust and votes of the people of Maharashtra.
