Air India, the Tata Group-owned airline, is gearing up to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi services, starting with its Airbus A350 aircraft on the Delhi to London Heathrow route. The launch of Wi-Fi onboard is part of the airline’s broader "ambitious transformation journey," which includes the recent commencement of the A350-900 aircraft on this route.
As of September 2, 2024, Air India began operating twice-daily flights between Delhi and London Heathrow with the A350-900, featuring 28 private suites in business class with full-flat beds, 24 seats in premium economy, and 264 seats in economy class. The introduction of onboard Wi-Fi services will begin with this route, enhancing the in-flight experience for travellers.

The A350-900 will replace the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights on the Delhi-London route, increasing capacity by an additional 336 seats per week. The new aircraft offers advanced features, including state-of-the-art business-class cabins that have received positive feedback from passengers.
Shankar Sharma, Founder of Goquant and First Global, shared a video of Air India's new business class cabin on social media, praising its design and amenities. "The new Air India planes with this Business-First cabin are very well designed. The individual cubicles are spacious, and the flatbed length is perfect for someone who is 6 feet tall. The food was excellent, and the wine selection was impressive. As always, the service on Air India was very warm," Sharma noted. He added that these new cabins could pose a challenge to the premium fares of other West Asian airlines.
Earlier this year, Air India began integrating the Airbus A350 into its fleet, first deploying it on the Delhi-Dubai route in May 2024. The addition of this aircraft reflects Air India’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing passenger experience.
